Pre-conception through Pregnancy to Post-Natal Care

We consider the beginning of pregnancy to be at the time of preconception! Planning a family is about many things, and both partners being in the best health possible leads to an easier journey!

Choosing an experienced practitioner to work with throughout this time could be one of the best investments you make in your prenatal health. The beauty of this is that it’s just as safe during your pregnancy as before and after. When you are carrying a precious new life inside you, it’s important that you know you’re in the very best hands. A practitioner who is experienced in caring for pregnant women, will be able to assess your spine, pelvis and nervous system, and provide you with a care plan tailored to you through each part of your journey.

Too often women are told that they will start to feel normal once their baby arrives, that it is normal to suffer through pregnancy. While there can be many common issues women face, suffering is not normal. How would it feel to enjoy being pregnant?

We don’t think that should be the case, as we work with you at every stage to help you enjoy your pregnancy and express your best life! When combined with gentle exercises and lifestyle guidance, this type of hands-on care is a pro-active way to take care of your body so that you can feel at your best and prepare your body for birth. If you are unsure if we can help, get in touch with us!

New Baby Care

Spinal and cranio-sacral care for newborns is increasingly popular as new parents learn about the benefits through their friends and family, midwives and health visitors, and lactation consultants. Many won’t have considered spinal or cranial care for their newborn babies—and if you think what we do is just for bad backs and sore necks, it’s not surprising.

Far from being limited to pain relief, care is focused on how well the nervous system is functioning in conjunction with the musculoskeletal system. The nervous system controls and co-ordinates everything that takes place within your body, so it’s just as important for babies to have access to this type of care as adults. The immense safety record speaks for itself—care for babies is extremely gentle.

A professional who is trained in caring for babies and children will be able to work with your baby even as they sleep! In recent years, there have been great studies showing wonderful outcomes with reduced crying times, better and easier breastfeeding, and happier mamas! Because we all know, if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy! Our connection to ourselves and our babies matters! Our techniques use only the lightest touch, similar to the pressure you would use on your eyeball.

If you’re unsure whether we can help your baby, get in touch with us, we’d love to chat!

Family Care

Once we have left the newborn stage behind, we offer a 6-8 week well child schedule of checking their nervous system via the spine and cranium, monitoring growth and development stages, and family wellness support care. This leads to pre-school and early school years as well. As children grow and develop, some are happy and easy, others are wild and mad climbers! We always encourage movement, fresh air and adventure. Kids learn better when they are on the move, and their brains are communicating well with their bodies. Some children may experience stress on some level, whether it be physical or emotional trauma or more. Helping them stay connected is important to growing well, as we have seen in the ACE* studies on longer term health effects (*adverse childhood events).

The integration of their nervous system matters to their overall health and wellbeing, as it does at any age or stage throughout your life.  As we continue to age, we face different challenges, and we are here to help and support from adolescence to older ages. One of our most common sayings is that sometimes, the kids just need an ‘attitude adjustment’, because we all have come to know well, that a child’s behaviour changes before anything else does, and if you are paying attention, it can head off a myriad of events!

When we reach our more golden years, we want as much life out of those years as possible, and that begins earlier than you may realise. Sometimes it can be as simple as you have forgotten what it feels like to move your body, and to feel good and safe in your body. For many families we see, this is often the first introduction to raising families with a more natural approach, and we are happy to guide you!
